I just got a letter from my cable company informing me that they have upped my service at no charge, and were giving me 3 months free Internet access. I have had the service for 3 years now, and have enjoyed 768k access the entire time, and it wasn't too expensive... Well they have upped the service now to 2Mbps! For FREE!!!... Wow. .Nice guys they are, Only thing is, my upload is still stuck at 128... :( Oh well...

Any one else get this kind of news?

btw, I did some download speed tests and yup, sure enough, I'm at 2Mbps now... WOW are things faster.

For those who asked, it's charter Pipeline.

I think it's mainly a ploy to kind of shake out the old cable modem users, the ones that only do 1.5 max, their docsis platform changed, and the old modems won't even connect... It's a backhanded way to get people to rent their modems at $7.00 a month.

    Glad I got a surfboard 4200, it's compliant up to 16Mbps

im on timewarner/roadrunner too .. when i first got it hooked up 2 years ago ... i got 2.5mbps down and almost 512kbps up ...

now in just the last month or so , ive dropped to 1mbps down/300k up ... and if i were to move about 10 miles away to lebanon, i could get 10mbps/2mbps cable for 10 bucks cheaper than roadrunner ...

just wish i could afford a houe there right now :(

i've seen speeds of about 3MBit on my cable, but the line is so congested in this area that it's usually not so fast, and i've got an upload limit of 2 gigs, and if i go over that they get really pissy, infact if i do it again i get cut off for a week.
