    Hi all,

I am going to upgrade an old Core2Duo machine from an e4500 to an e8300. It says that the e8300 has a 1333 fsb. Does that mean I would need to upgrade my RAM to 1333MHz or above or can I run it with my current ddr2 800 ram? Thanks!

It'll run it no problem. I've got an E8500 (1333MHz FSB) running with some 800Mhz RAM with no trouble whatsoever. Just make sure you check your BIOS settings so that everything is running at the correct speed (will probably auto-detect the RAM and adjust itself, but if not you can change the FSB:RAM strap yourself).

The fsb:dram ratio is normally 1:2, so 667mhz is stock dram speed for a 1333mhz fsb. Some motherboards support other ratios so you can run the ram at 800mhz, but, this is bit-tech - overclock it! :)
