    Hi all bit-tech.net users!

I decided to create this thread, because when I asked my friends they weren't very helpful. What happened is that I decided to upgrade my computer (list below) and I already bought what I wanted (It comes on friday 5th December). The thing is that I am not 100% sure, if my PSU can handle all my components. PSU that I got is Hiper Type M 580W PSU. Below you can see specification of my current hardware and what I bought as an upgrade.

    Current PC:
    -Hiper Type M 580W (HPU-4M580) in Antec 300 case
    -Abit Fatal1ty FP-IN9 SLI
    -Intel Pentium DualCore E2220 2.4 GHz (12x800) @ OCed to 3.00 GHz (12x1000 - 1.41V in BIOS)
    -2 x 1GB Geil Value PC6400 DDR2-800 RAM (1.85V)
-XFX 8800GT Alpha Dog Standard Edition (600/900/1500) @ OCed to XXX edition (670/975/1675)
    -2 x Samsung HD502IJ 500 GB HDDs (1 TB)
    -Samsung DVD-RW
    -120 mm Antec fan
    -140 mm Antec fan

Upgrade (I am adding, not replacing anything):
    -AKASA AK-FC-03 Fan Control Pro
    -2 x AKASA AK-274CR-4RDS 120cm fans
    -4GB (2x2GB) Corsair TwinX XMS2 RAM
    -640GB Western Digital WD6401AALS HDD

So my question is can my Hiper 580W PSU handle all these components?

I would really appreciate if somebody can answer my question :) If you have anymore question feel free to ask ;)

If it's stable and efficient then yes. The quoted power output is more than enough so if it can do anything near that then it's good enough.

yes, it will be a easy task for it. Dont get sucked into the feeling that you need a huge psu to power a normal system (if you look at my psu in my sig it was cheep :hehe:)

I've read other thread on bit-tech.net forum and somebody asked if he can power up two 8800GTS (I think) on that PSU and he could, so i guess my "small" upgrade cannot match power consumption of 8800GTS, so I guess I should be fine ;)

Actually sorry it was one 8800 GTS. I found the thread again and read it, my mistake :/ I've read it in rush last time. Still I think I will be ok with my upgrade.

I found another small problem tho, not like I cannot deal with it, I got only 4 Sata connectors (2 on one cable) and one of these cables is connected to my hdds and the other one to my DVD drive. I guess I will have to move my DVD drive to different slot.

Anyway thank for all replies, if somebody wants to add something then feel free to do so. I will update thread when I will get all my components and connect them ;) Cannot wait till friday.... :D :D

My system takes ~330W from AC side on maximum load (Prime95 and FurMark running) so actually nearly all systems have overrated PSUs.

    Specs:
    Corsair HX620
    Q9550 @ 3.4GHz
    Radeon 4870 512MB
    P5Q Pro
    4x 2GB Corsair 800MHz
    2x WD 640GB
    4x 120mm fans

Friday tomorrow guys!!! :D cannot wait.... I got only one problem now, I cannot really get rid of Windows on my current hdd, because I am doing movie for my grandparents. I think I will have to disconnect all hdds, install my new WD, install windows 64 bit, test it if it works and then disconnect WD hdd and connect my samsung back. After finishing movie I can get rid of old windows on samsung and finally enjoy my new setup :D That's the plan so far.... I dont know how it will going to work out. Anyway I will update this thread after tomorrow's upgrades :D Cya!

You are absolutely right, I installed Vista yesterday, everything was fine, but today I decided to install XP on second partition and of course something went wrong and now I have to format my hdd again and install XP first and then Vista :/ It takes few minutes since I am installing XP from USB drive, so no problem with XP, just Vista from DVD :/ . I hope everything will work fine. I used to have XP, Vista and Ubuntu and I didnt have problem with booting. Ohh well.....

.....anyway I just wanted to show you few pictures of my upgraded PC ;)

    Parts

    Quick update:

After installing everything again, I discovered that one of my audio ports doesn't work :/ It doesn't work in xp and also in vista. I don't know why :/ it could be either something to do with voltages or maybe I broke/bend something when I was connecting my speakers. What do you people think?

After installing everything today (all went fine btw) I discovered weird noise coming out from my PC. After closer investigation I discovered that my PSU makes buzzing noise :( I've read that this PSU when heavy used, dies after few month :( i don't want to lose any of my new bought hardware, so I am going to disconnect one of my samsung drives and just use WD and one samsung :( I guess there is another upgrade to be done soon..... :(

I need help guys!!! :( i really want to cry now.... My windows doesnt boot at all, it goes to stage with windows xp logo and then all i can see is blue screen for few miliseconds and it reboots. It does that all the time. I recorded that with my camera and on slow motion I found out that there is "STOP: c000021a {Fatal System Error}" on that blue screen. That is all I could read. There was also something strange in my POST screen. My CPU was listed as 6.0x200 Mhz (1.200 MHZ), i dont know why. Can anybody help me on that? Please

Have you Googled the stop error?

I've got the same PSU powering my system. Had it since March, and it's not failed yet...

From what you're saying about the POST screen, it looks like the overclock has failed and the system has defaulted to safe settings.

However, with you having a problem with the audio, and the buzzing noise from your PSU, it could be there is a grounding fault in the system somewhere. Your mobo isn't shorting out on the case is it?

I guess it is all my fault :( . First thing, windows error.... that was virus, issas.exe (simillar to windows process lssas.exe), I got rid of this now. The other thing, my broken audio port is my fault, because I overloaded one of the lines of power supply. Basically I connected 3 hdds and Sata DVD-RW on one line and all that together with my 8800GT and OCed ram and cpu overloaded my psu. My mouse is broken, probably USB dongle is fried. My audio port doesn't work.

I sorted out my pc yesterday, I will connect just one hdd, 8800 GT and 3 fans for now.
I am looking for new power supply and I was thinking about Corsair HT 620W. What you people think about it?
I also think about new motherboard, something good for overclocking. I would like to have at least 6 sata ports and one eSata on the back. I don't really care about SLI or CrossFire. I prefer to have just one graphic slot. What motherboard do you people recommend?

Thanks for all your responses. ;)

sorry :p I know that it is HX 620 but for some reason I put HT :p I guess I was thiking about TX series :p but w/e I came to the same decision, great reviews and great company, I am going for Corsair.

So just motherboard left, what should I buy? I want to overclock my cpu to max 3.0 GHz. I don't really need anything above that. I am thinking about Asus, but I don't know which model I should get. If somebody could help me with making right choice, I would really appreciate it. Thx!

Well, I have a P5Q Pro, and it's been good. But recently they've gone up in price.

Indeed they did, it's £102 on scan now. It might go lower after christmas (I am hoping it will ;P).

I am thinking about P5Q series of Asus motherboards, so mm vr recommend P5Q PRO. I like it too. I am also thinking about Asus P5Q-E, because it has eSata (I really want it) and additional LAN port (don't really need that). Are there any other interesting models of Asus P5Q series? or any other companies? My budget is about £100-£120 for motherboard. Thx for all your replies ;)

    Edit: (5 minutes later)

After looking at pictures of both motherboards, I think P5Q Pro has better layout (postiion of sata ports). I got 8800GT which is big graphic card and if I will use that, I won't be able to use all Sata ports, so I guess P5Q Pro would work better for me. but anyway if you have any other recommendations, I would really love to know them. Thx!
