Other Cancelling virgin broadband

I only have broadband from virgin media. I read their site that they say that you need to give them 30 days notice to cancel the broadband. Does the cancellation date follow your bill date or follow from the date you want the service to be cancelled?

Example: My bill date is on the 18th of every month. I want my broadband terminated on the 25th of June. Can I call them on 25th of May to ask for a cancellation of the account for 25th of June, or will it be terminated on the 18th of June?

Also, as I don't have a virgin telephone line, does anyone know any non-premium numbers which I can call with my giffgaff mobile phone?
