you could open it up, then gut everything not needed (ie: the controler cards, optics, ect), then reinforce it. And to eject it wire the button up to the motor. Hope to see pics if you do actually do it!

If the tray does not open when you push the button, then the servo processor is busy with somthing else. Perhaps it's trying to read from a lazer that has died. If that is the case, your best bet is to remove teh electronics, CD mechanisims, ect, and wire up the button and internal switches to a homebrew circuit. he circuit shouldn't be too complicated with an h driver.

it has connectors for Mitsumi and sony... I used one of these drives (The mitsumi 2x) for my LCD mod... worked a treat for that, but then again, I gutted it entirely first.
