Where can I buy a CDP6402 or compatible UART in the US? Is there a chip available from Digi-Key that's compatible? (It does not need to be pinout compatible or even pin compatible.) I'm looking for one that can easily be interfaced to discrete logic without a microcontroller.
Failing that, is it possible to program a PIC to work in a similar manner to a CDP6402? I prefer one for the PIC16F872 or PIC18LF4539, since I already have those.
