I can't help but notice that our PPD has fallen substantially over the last few days, when it was on a steady upward trajectory. Could this be due to the impact of the new Fermi work units which is killing our Fermi PPD?

If it is, then surely it will be affecting other teams aswell? So hopefully in relation to them it won't matter much?

I'm waiting for a bigadv to finish, so that'll have dropped about 1k points off since the other day (had the wrong email address passkey in so was crunching standard units instead of bigadv, dammit!).

I think so. Think of how many Ferims are folding. And now make each drop 2000-3000 PPD. And here we go. I read here that some experienced PPD drop from 15K to even 9K. I didn't experience that. My PPD dropped about 3000PPD but it's due to my card doesn't like being so much overclocked any more and was dropping WU's with errors. :sigh: So overall, I might have dropped 1K at best.

I've just checked the other big teams stats and they have all had big drops in their PPD.

General Consensus, Is the 450 still any good (for the money) for folding? Was considering adding one to the farm but doubting it now.

They're still not too bad with how things are now a days. If you don't add advmethods you'll get p6800 WU and both my 450s OC'd @900hmz do 8900ppd on these, my GTX 460 1GB OC'd @850 Mhz does them at 11,600 but that cost me £145 as opposed to £100 for the 450.
Another option you might want to consider is the GTX 460 768Mb it's only £20 dearer than the GTX450, I've heard they do slightly less than the 1GB model, so "bang for buck" this might be a good choice, plus if those big p6811 WU move off advmethods the 460s are a lot better at handling them. ppd wise my 460 does them about the same as the p6800s, but with the 450 it's less than 7000ppd.

ppd for 768mb and 1gb is the same it only affects games (unless the 1gb is clocked higher but same can be for the 768mb as well)
