    Your link is borked,
I'm not entirely sure a 12v PSU will pump ot enough power for a sub?

    wont work

the psu may supply 12 volts but its amperage wont be enough, it may jsut work but i gaurantee if it does it wont for very long

the only person i know who has sucessfully used a car sub in his hifi kit is HK but he has used a propper hifi amp & a EQ to boost the frequencys slightly as car subs work but not brillaintly in the home

sorry to rain on your parade mate (thought about trying it myself)

Trust me, leave the car stuff for the car.

There are plenty of prebuilt home audio subwoofers and some amazing DIY subwoofers, what kind of budget do you have.

For prebuilt subs Velodyne CHT 10 and CHT 12 are good.

For custom subwoofers and parts check out.

A full DIY subwoofer can be great, there are some excelent drivers from www.Adireaudio.com the "Shiva" from USA , if built from Adire plans (reference designs on the web site) e.g. put in 3 cubic foot vented enclsure tuned to 20hz will provide amazing bass output right down to 20 hz, this will rival subwoofers in the £500-£1000 range.

If you want to check out the Shiva look here.

Good budget receivers, slightly older models are:

Denon AVR 1602 and the Marantz SR 4200.

The Onkyo TX-DS595 or Onkyo TX-SR600.

Then Denon AVR1802 and Marantz SR 5200.

Look to see if the receiver you want has Dolbly Prologic II it is well worth having on a receiver.

You can get car subs to run on hifi gear. I done it :)

Although the 100w amp I have driving it is no where near powerful enough for what that beast can do.

My housemate runs a 15" JL Audio car sub AND a 10" Infinity car sub for his hifi in addition to KEF fronts, centre and rears.

You can see from his complete spec though that he's got plenty of power from the yamaha and the rotel.

    Yamaha DSP-AX620 AV processor/amp
    Rotel RB-970BX stereo power amp
    KEF Cresta 2s (fronts)
    KEF Cresta 1s (rears)
    KEF Cresta C (centre)
Infinity Kappa KCS100BR (sub, 1cft sealed)
    Sony MDS-JE520 MD Deck
    Pioneer DV-350 multi-region CD/DVD transport
    QED/Cable Talk/IXOS/Profigold cables etc

It's not really a good idea to try to power a sub from a computer PSU but he was using an old 300W of mine a month or so back to power a DLS A5 - 3ch amp (designed for use in a car but he tested it on his home stuff) that he then ran his front speakers off. That amp is rated:
    2 x 50RMS @ 4 ohms (typical power: 2 x 85RMS), midbass
    1 x 500RMS @ 2ohms, sub
and even at volume neither the amp or PSU got hot...

$100 that is not very much at all, what speakers do you currently own?

Can you save some more money?

You could buy a decent center then use you current speakers as Left and right speakers.

Then save for rear speakers and upgrade the fronts to better models.

Check out this site for fairly cheap speakers.

    http://www.htdaudio.com/

Level TWO or HTD Middies could sound ok.
