I know how to change icons for file types, but what about applications themselves? Such as Photoshop, Firefox, etc. I'd like to change their default icon so when they are in my taskbar I see my new shinier icons.

    Is this possible?

open any folder, tools>folder options>file types>advanced>change icon (guess you knew that way). Other than that for something like firefox just change the icon for the actual program in program files or for for whatever the shortcut is to. Then when you make new shortcut it will make new icon according to the icon of the app. it is directing to. Those are the ways i can think of without other software
