Hey everyone, my brother's birthday is coming up and I was thinking of purchasing a keyboard for him. I have a limited budget of £30 which means mechanical keyboards are out of the question (afaik). However, as far as I'm aware, my brother has a really cheap keyboard that comes with pre-built computers.

Surely there must be a membrane based keyboard that is a noticeable upgrade for £30? He explicitly mentioned to me that volume/media control is not a priority in a keyboard for him as he uses a controller and headset for when he watches things like movies, youtube videos or streams.

Anyone got any ideas of what keyboard to get? My first idea is the i-Rocks K10 USB , which was positively received in the Kitguru website. A Cyborg V5 looks very promising but is just above my budget (£37).

    Thanks in advance!

I saw the Cyborg and it looks alright, this Coolermaster combo (keyboard and mouse) is right on budget, and the keyboard is backlit, plus you get a mouse. Not sure how great they are (average rating of 3.8/5), but for the price, I don't think you can really complain.

Not in the same league, but I've a coolermaster mechanical keyboard and a higher end coolermaster mouse, and both have been under heavy use for the 2-3 years I've owned them. Never had issues, and the one time I had some questions, Coolermaster got back to me in a reasonable amount of time.

Cyborg v5 is a lovely keyboard to use. I had one for 2 years, my mate is still using it another 2 years later. Some of the lettering on the backlit keycaps now looks more like a red smudge with backlight, but the WASD keys do take a lot of hammer.

Another alternative would be the Cougar 200k, 30 quid or so but with scissor switches.
