i just got one of these drinks chillers and i want to give the inside a nice gentle 'glow'. ive decided a ccfl would be too bright, any sugestions? the best thing i can think of is some el wire, but this might not be bright enough
window tint isnt a bad idea, though i was planning on putting a custom applique in there. spose i could do both, i was after more or an even lighting thats y i dont wanna use leds, ive just had a look at the door and there is a small lip around the window where some el wire would fit perfectly, i think ill go for that, and ill consider using some window tint aswell
well i'd rather not risk it, and im sure el wire will work well enough, ill see if i can get all my bottles/cans back lit
depending how cold it is in the chiller, the ccfl might not be as bright as it is at room temp, or may not even light at all I still think LED's would do it
i have some EL wire and if you looking for a glow then stay away from it, the wire emmites almost no light
EL wire is good to make the wire itslef glow, but the glow is dim and shouldnt be used to light anything but itself, or something within 1cm of it!
hmmmmm, it seems this isnt as easy as i would have hoped, ccfl might not light in the cold (the chiller has a freezer compartment and i was gonna light next to that), el wire isnt bright enough and leds wouldnt give an even enough spread of light
yes but i dont think it would be bright enough if i did that, unless i used alot of leds.... and im not too gr8 at soldering
if memory serves there is a kind of LED strip with evenly spaced LEDs on it that might work, if i can find where i saw them i'll post the link, but that might be an option
ooo i know what you mean, forgot about them, you do love ur leds dont ya edit/ ya mean these? http://www.sunbeamtech.com/new/products/led/led series-meteor light.htm
Yea, those are one example of them. On a side note, yes i love LEDs, i love them more than life, if i had to choose between my own mother and LEDs i choose LEDs hands down
They give off heat How about replacing the shelf in it with a sheet of plexi (with slots cut in it like the shelf, to let the cold through) and light it up from the back edge
