    Hi guys,

I'm looking at getting a new graphics card for my rig, been building it in stages for a while now, graphics card is the last thing I need to get. I'm a bit overwhelmed at which one to get, my budget is around £200, hopefully going to buy it for Christmas. The components I've got at the moment are:

    i3-550 O.C. to 4.3GHz
    4GB 1600MHz Ram
    ASUS® P7H57D-V EVO Mobo
    600W PSU
    60GB SSD (boot)
    640GB HDD
    24" monitor 1920x1200
    21.5" monitor 1920x1080

My current thinking is either a 6870 or maybe a 5850, *might* be able to push to a 5870 if you think it's worth it... or on the green team a GTX 470 or save a bit of money and get a GTX 460 1GB. With my mobo I doubt crossfire or SLI is going to be any good, but I'm open to ideas. I prefer ATI (sorry AMD :p ) for the multi-monitor support, rather than physX. Anyway, what do you recommend?

Can you hold off till the new 6 series card come out as this may cause a reshuffle of prices...

I thought they were going to be the high end >£400 cards? Will that have much of an effect on the middle to lower end cards then? If the release of the 6970 will affect them then I can wait a little bit, maybe get one January some time. But I don't want to be waiting for *too* long, had planned on playing some new games over xmas :D

It may push down the price of the 5870 is my thought...

It will effect the prices of middle/lower cards, your right in thinking it will not be a huge amount but as the demand for middle cards/lower cards drop off with buyers buying the top spec cards there will also be a flush of 2nd hand middle cards on the market (ebay) and the such......so demand will drop further for middle range cards bought "new" from stores.... resulting in a price drop...how much well maybe £20-£60 by Jan but not huge..

However for the sake of a month or two..maybe worth waiting as it maybe enough of a drop to allow you to get something without going over your budget or have enough left over for a case of beer :) .

Okay, I'll wait until January then, I should have extra money then anyway! See if the new cards bring the prices down, I hope they do, that case of beer sounds tempting :p

Hmmm, that does look good! For that price I wish my mobo had two x16 lanes now :p
Still, one 5850 is good, thanks for the find!

I'll have a look on eBay and the like, hopefully be able to grab a bargain somewhere! :)

Wait till after the 8th Dec then...when the new cards are released there will be more of these on market places as people buy the new cards or get new cards for xmas also..meaning lots of cheap 2nd hard cards being put up for sale:)
