This is one of the mods that I have done just because I was bored one day and decided to do it. I actually made this over 2 months ago, but I never got around to to taking pictues of it to post on the forum. I started with a small 2GB memory stick that I got from my school for free. I used it a few times, then got bored with the look of it and decided to mod it. After buying 5 old broken wrist watches from some antique stores and some sheet brass from a local hobby store I got to work making a new housing for the memory stick. The only original parts are the electronic guts in it. It was a spur of the moment kind of thing, so I don't have work pictures only the aftermath. Here it is. Quite nice, but the title made me think you had a USB powered clockwork mechanism. -and that got me thinking that a clockworks HD activity indicator would be cool, and by the time I was in here I had all kinds of crazy expectations.
Sorry, I've just been calling it my Clockwork Memory Stick. Some of the gears still move but I broke some of the jewels wile working on it. I did have some ideas about making a gear or two turn when the LED was on but I couldn't figure out how to connect a pager motor to the gears. So I gave up and left it as it is now. Maybe my next Memory Stick will do that. I need more watches first.
