News Comcast beats Fox to Sky acquisition

Thank goodness Murdoch didn't get his grubby little hands on it, is all i can say.

I think the first sentence should read "offering a deal work worth nearly.

 

Yeah although he'll make a pretty penny out of it.

As big a bunch of cockwombles comcast are, in the eyes of many they're preferable to Fox/Murdoch...

...but that is like saying being shot is preferable to being burned alive.

 

I was wondering about that but as the only thing i know about Comcast is that it's an American company (it is isn't it?) i guessed that it couldn't be as bad as Murdoch.

 

They might be one of the few you could convincingly argue were worse. They are routinely caught lying to customers (data caps and exit charges are required by US Federal Law apparently), inserting extra charges without notice and they're notorious for throttling people's connections when they use certain website and services. They're arguably the biggest lobbyist against net neutrality too.

Comcast getting Sky over Fox is rather like dodging Satan only to wonder into the path of Apophis.

 

It wasn't really about Fox vs Comcast, Fox were simply a proxy for Disney (Disney having agreed to buy all of Fox's assets - inc. Sky). However Comcast have won, at a very inflated cost.
