Who plays this game here? Ive been playing it a lot recently and Ive started getting quite good (roughly 5 wins for every 3 losses on the 1v1 online ranked matches). One thing that really pisses me off about this game (well its not the game's fault actually) is when you destroy a noob and he starts calling you a cheater/ blaming the game for being broken and altogether being a complete baby about it. One of the reasons why I never get tired of this game and keep coming back to it over and over from your usual run of the mill FPS is becasue its actually one of those games which actually makes you think. But that means people who dont understand its a thinking man's game and not some FPS call it a broken game when they dont understand it and get owned. well I guess thats quite common with most games but I felt like ranting thoughts? Oh and if anyone wants to play a set team 2v2 match as my partner you are welcome to add me user is mintyman

i bought it on steam for like £3 but nenver played it trying to complete fallout 3 atm. must not get sidetracked
i got it too. logged in over 600 hours of this baby and i love it to bits. best rts in my opinion. hit me up on xfire: 7sahkspec i don't usually play 2 v2 cuz all the people i'm paired with are horribly noobish. i tend to prefer 1v1 auto. currently level 10 american, level 9 wehr, level 9 PE and lvl 7 brits. whats your fave faction?
i have the games but i just started mass effect and i want to complete that before i try this game. Does look good but ill be rubbish at it.
CoH is/was awesome! I don't know how messed up the balance is now, at some stage it was just awesome, then they came up with Opposing Fronts which again messed the balance. Then they fixed it again over the period of six months, and then came up with Tales of Valour. I've actually been about to install the game again for ages, but I have it on DVDs, so it'll take half a decade to download and install all the patches I think I played as Jipa back in the day, haven't even tried in maybe a year now.
I love it and have Opposing Fronts too. But my desktop won't play it and I haven't used my laptop for ages. Tried online quite a bit, but didn't get on very well. It did seem as though a lot of people got really got, then started new accounts with lower ranks to beat people. I'm not a moaner, but I just stopped playing, because I found it frustrating a lot of the time. Got the odd win though and really enjoy it. Maybe I'll get the laptop out. Saying that, my internet connection probably wouldn't hack it
I thought they fought the "smurfing" by making matches based on account level, rather than name. One serial key = one account, so even if you made sub-accounts with silly names, you'd still be matched against players of your own level. Not sure how this works, but I remember them making such change at some stage. Also the deal-breaker for me were the damn Britts! The bunkerspam and at-the-time unbeatable, wayyyy overpowered units in team games really ruined the experience for me. Personally I liked the vCoH factions (even I also have the OF), and those just became obsolete due to the stupid balance problems. I'm not a moaner either, at the time I stopped playing these were very much known issues.. Dunno how many patches they've launched since.
Actually the current patch fixed all the balance issues. its pretty fair and square across all the factions now. I play US mainly and my preferred tactic is rifle spam with 4 squads and BARS/nades and airborne with dropped AT and satchels, especially if they get a nice medic bunker. Then I micromanage the crap out of my squads and throw 4 nades at one go at their infantry blobs. I dont usually get heavy tanks though, but sometimes I like to rush out a M8 with the armor doctrine and get calliopes as fast as I can. Since I dont do tanks too often it would be nice to find someone good with tanks
same sentiments as you. Im lvl 11 US but Ive decided to start afresh yesterday. I wasnt too good when I started the old one see so my W/L at first was more of 1/1 amking it hard to level up now. Im lvl 8 on my mintyman acc with 5 0.
god i can see me having to start playing this soon, got so many games in the steam sale i have not got enough time to get round to all of them yet, still got about 30 games to download and install and play yet.... currently going through DoW + expansions (with the odd quickie on L4D and L4D2 and C&C RA3) then i was planning on mirrors edge however might have to try CoH first aaahhhhhhh need more time in a day to play...
actually, there are still some issues present. wehr medic bunkerspam is still there among the higher tiered players. the 3 shot pak bonus is still there, kangaroos and staghounds are a bit overpowered, ostwinds don't reload ( i fear those things when i see them coming towards my riflemen when i have no AT guns) and strafing run rapes panzer grenadiers. the only ones i really hate are the medic bunker spam and ostwinds.
well its much better than the previous patch, where kangaroos were wayy too overpowered. they nerfed strafing runs though
