    noob question here
y when the RAM says,400MHz......i still can't set the clock to 400?

even tho i've seen some people with PC3200 but they get 210+-

    but when me,400 can't even touch 200

What other hardware do you have? Motherboard, CPU et cetera.

try running your RAM at the "SPD" setting in bios, if it doesn't run 400Mhz at that setting then there is something else wrong elsewhere

The clock of the memory would b 200MHz if yor memory is 400MHz DDR because it sends out data twice a clock.

DDR- double data rate. this means it sends data on the rising edge and fallin edge of a clock (2 times per clock). so double the clock the memory is running on and u get the true data rate because it sends the data out twice in 1 clock.

400MHz DDR is the effectiver clock because it is double data rate, it will only run at 200MHz but will work as fast as 400MHz SDR memory, memory that only sends data out once a clock.

well saying that actually SDR does somthing only 1 thing per clock and DDR does 2 things a clock as memory has other things to do like RAS, CAS, etc.
