Hey, Im looking to buy myself a whole new system in the next 2-3 weeks and have decided to go conroe.

I've got about £1200 to spend and thats for everything down to the case and hard drives

I'm going for the E6600 and Ati graphics (x1800/1900) probably 2Gb of ram

However im wondering about what mobo to get? Im looking for watercooled overclocking so good power reg is needed + high FSB

Im looking to spend no more than about £150 on a mobo tbh

    Any Ideas?
    Cheers

Something i975x based, havent looked at enough conroe boards myself yet to suggest one, sorry. You'll have to double check they support conroe though.

The P5W DH Deluxe is good, but I'd wait for the final revision (which is the one that will be in the shops next week, afaik). Check before you buy too, because if it doesn't have a Conroe-supporting BIOS on, it will not POST.

    going conroe

NVIDIA nForce 590 SLI, thats what I am heading for when conroe is officially released. Obviously this is for nvidia cards.

I'd still get a i975, even if RD600 claims to be an uberclocker.

The only benefit of RD600 for CrossFire is dual PCIe X16 slots and of course I can't for get the ATI/ATI combination. Intel's platform does fine with dual x8 slots though. :)

So its the ASUS P5W-DH Deluxe or the Intel 975XBX?

Why is it that my local supplier says the Asus P5W DH Deluxe WiFi needs a BIOS update to support Conroe (see here)? Is it a different version or something?

That is the case and you should ask them to update it for you. The latest revision of the board doesn't require that, but I don't think it is in the stores yet.

If you're not buying anything faster than an E6600, I agree :)

Any ideas on the best MATX Conroe board, or an estimate as to when we might be seeing more being released?

Quick question about Crossfire, whats with the different speed lanes?

The ASUS P5W-DH Deluxe it says CrossFire (2 X8 PCIe) and 2 PCIe X16

    The Gigabyte GA-965P-DQ6 it says 1 - PCIe X16 1 - PCIe X4 (X16 physical connector)

Wondering if the gigabyte even supports crossfire (says dual graphics compatible) but doesnt mention crossfire

Really i wanna know which is the fastest?

Also would they fit in the Lian Li v1000?
