Ok, so i just bagan my first build and it's not gone too well so far. Firstly my motherboard doesn't appear to have any SATA cables, but much mroe worryingly, i just dropped my CPU into the motherboard and pulled the little clip down. As i was dropping it in it didn't fall straight into the little tabs at first, i had to nudge it into position and it just fell in, it looked a snug fit. But when i pulled the level down to lock it in place i head a scratching noise, as i locked it. Am i worrying about nothing or it that very bad? It was only quite and the motherboard was sitting on it's box at the time so it could have been that i guess, but it didn't sound like it.
might be worth taking the cpu out to have a look, puts your mind at ease but i am sure its all fine. as longweight said, 1st time is scary.
yeah i always hate lowering the CPU leaver down when installing it into the socket...seems to require an awfull lot of force on a socket 775 motherboard....never had a scraping noise though lol
