Well i got my system RE-put back together.. again had to fork out more money but i got the sapphire 3870x2 Crossfired with a Vision-tek 3870OC edition so when i got it back, i tried playing assassins creed with Crossfire enabled after the intro, screen goes black, freezes, get some atikmdag error has recovered etc bubble on bottom right next to the clock same thing happened with world in conflict, then i disabled crossfire, all games worked fine... then i went back to enable it. after i did that, catalyst control center locked up and it was saying no ATI drivers installed.. all gone.. so i removed whatever was left of them anyway with some removal tool then re-installed 8.6 fresh, works fine now, no freezing screen etc but now i see no Crossfire icon on control center!! so i can't enable it.... whats up?
Okay, i got it to work, had to switch the cards, and put the 3870x2 in slot 1 and restart pc again, all is working fine.
