Kinda curious what you're basing that statement on. Sure, a laser puts more heat into the metal, but if it's set up right, it'll leave a mirror-like edge finish. You have to be real careful on the thin stuff or you'll start burning up sharp corners. There's a lot of variables to take into account.
he probably only used the water one and never even saw a laser, thus thinks the waterjets are much superior
I saw both but i preffer water its just somthing about it running a jet of water @ 50 000 PSI trough a piece of metal
as apposed to.. [Goldfinger] No Mister Bond I Expect You To Die cue LASER.. [/Goldfinger] and i believe
I've skimmed over the surface of this thread. Has anyone asked reGen where he's getting this panel cut? I would kill to get my CM 410 side panel done like that.
lo guys soz for not being able to reply its a contact my dad has through his line of work, fraid its only a 1 off. dont have a clue how much itd cost if it was to be done via a company that didnt know me, and I dont think i want to know lol
I think cutting with light and cutting with water have pretty equal cool factors. Seems to me the laser's advantage is speed and accuracy and the waterjet's is material versatility. An example is that the laser won't cut glass, it goes right thru, but it can cut sheet steel at high rates of speed (400+ feet per minute).
so anyone got any more ideas? would be cool if there were a few .dwg / .dxf floating about that i cud use too save me a lot of hassle
I don’t know this for sure but, cant u import the jpg/gif into CorelDraw and make it into a vector image ?? and that u can import in AutoCAD, correct me if im wrong.
You CAN do that, but unless you've got some REALLY clean, hi-res artwork for it to start with, you'll have a considerable amount of cleanup to do. I prefer to place the image in cad as a background and trace it manually.
I think the last option is the best way, u can easily edit some details then Nice one m8 i dint come up with that one
Alrighty, just out of curiosity, I redrew that nutty tribal design in Rhino3D. Took me about 90 minutes. I'd be REALLY curious to see how it'd cut on a laser.
So would I, I never thought anyone would actully think if using that image. BTW just search google images for tribal designs that what i did to find that one.
