Also, I installed the unofficial Catalyst 3.3's, which actually display as version 2.4 in the properties. They offer a little better performance than the 3.4's, and they can run this demo.

Rofl, not if you have a GF4. Catalyst are only for ATI, unless somebody was able to h4x them like they did this demo.

    I had to mention this...

I read in another forum that somebody wanted to take out the nVidia logo in the bottom right of this demo and put in an ATI one...AHAHAHAH!

Funniest thing I've heard all week.

First off I am ATI / nVidia neutral
    (I own a ATi 7200)

    Neutral ideas:

Yes the demo runs 15% faster but:

    Where are the eye lashes?
The AA does not look right on the legs.
The hair is the same width the entire length (It does not taper off)
The make-up on here face looks imbeded into her skin. (It has the same luminocity as her skin)
I don't see any glint in the eyes (That may just be the view angle)

    Compared to:
    http://www.nvidia.com/docs/IO/3648/SUPP/large02.jpg

This does indeed show that ATI can come up to nVidia and fight.

It also shows those techs at nVidia spend too many late nights "working" on Dawn.

Personaly I am totaly split between ATI and nVidia.

    I hate ATI's drivers.
(Install these three, then go back and install five different programs to get your DVD working again)
    VS nVidia's one-program installer.

ATI seems to win out on picture quality compared to nVidia.
This may be due to the use of 3DFX's technology in the gForceFX.
(3DFX was fast, but as a sacrifice of contrast and overall sharpness)

But I still beleave that much of the core of the gForceFX is un-tapped. To me this will mean a longer lasting card as drivers are optomized, and game take advantage of the new features.

Heck, when the time comes I will probably get which ever card is cheapest.

    I agree with you...

-The hair IS a lot thicker on the ATI card.
-There are no eyelashes in the Dawn Ultra, but there are in the regular Dawn for some reason. The Ultra is just another version of Dawn, but adds more detail to the wings.

There is definately a reflection on the eyes with my card, but it might be slightly more intense on an FX.

    To j`w0n and Zap:

This is the same for GFFX IIRC.
(but I don't have a Geforce nor Radeon!!!!)

And Zap, would you consider Matrox cards?

I see that as very unessesary by nvidia and think of thier company less because of that perverted version. Nvidia needs to get thoer company image togther as well as thier graphic card performance. IMHO nvidia cards run too hot and have too many capacitors :hehe: with radeons they purr away :)

The dawn demo shows that nvidia are trying thier hardest to get any customers they can.

    A couple of questions:

    > Where do I put the opengl file?

    > Also I just tried running this on my radeon 9000pro and it came with a message saying A Geforce FX card was needed!?

    Any help would be great.

Check the readme file. Since the demo was complaining you must have put the file in the wrong location...

Turns out this won't run on a 9000pro since they aren't Direct X 9 cards :( Thanks anyway.

The opengl wrapper was updated so the eyelashes display right and her hair is thinned out like it should look on a GF FX card.

    Get it here.

Sorry to drag this up from the dead, but I just bought a 9500 (softmodded to 9700:lol: )
Installed the Dawn demo, put the opengl wrapper (latest) into the bin folder, got the latest catalyst drivers, spun round and barked like a dog, threw a six to start.......... and it just gives the standard Windoze XP "Error etc... Send report or don't send report" rubbish.:wallbash: :wallbash: :wallbash: :wallbash:

I see the splash screen, and then the error. Can neone help please ??

    Darkside.
