    My rig is as follows:
    AMD Athlon 64 (socket 939) 3200+
    EVGA nVidia 7600 GT
US Modular 1 GB DDR RAM PC3200
    Biostar 6100-M9 mobo

Why do I get such an awful frame-rate playing certain games? I turn all of the features off on Battlefield 2142 and I still get 30 FPS or below (running at 1024x768).

Any help would be much appreciated.

I reckon you have an IM app running in the background with AV and music player.

Can't resist :) Because you run windows? ;)

No, seriously, you can have the best of the best, and clog it all up with various applications...

Also, have you installed the AMD "driver" for Dual Cores (or isn't that needed anymore?)

I only run xfire in the background which uses 18 MB of RAM. Occasionally I'll quit everything before playing, but that doesn't seem to help much. I was actually able to run BF2 quite well, but I can't seem to get BF2142 to get a good frame rate.

    And my processor is single-core.

The new v1.1 has improved performance by quite a bit, especially on Titan mode.
