Recently my PC frequently gets stuck when "detecting IDE drives". The first time I got scared, thinking my HD's might have crashed, but that's not the case. After a few resets it doesn't do that anymore.

What could be the problem? Are these signes that one of my HD's will suffer from an early death?

unplug and plug back in all ide and power cables. i had a ide cable that was just a tad loose and it did the same thing. try changing jumpers to cable select. that might do somthing.
