I have gotten into the habit of sleeping my Win 7 64 machine, and 99% of the time it works fine and sleeps & resumes fine with a press of the keyboard or wiggle of the mouse.
1% of the time, it goes to sleep, and instead of all the fans etc going off, they keep running. The Power LED blinks as normal but it won't resume unless I hold down the Power button.
When this happens, the time on the machine does not update at all during the time it is "sleeping"!

Any ideas on how to work out what is causing this?

    Check your power saving settings.

Goto device manager,---> Nework Adapter---> Properties---> Power Management,
Uncheck "Allow this device to wake up"
    Might help you ?

Hibernate wouldn't even work for me on windows 7 rc beta build. I got the problem from it not waking from hibernate. I found that having my ipod plugged in stopped it from booting. make sure you don't have any external usb items plugged in such as drives, ipods :).
