Is there such a thing as ethernet jacks with screw terminal connectors instead of punchdown? I'm having trouble getting my punchdown jacks to connect and I swear I've seen jacks with screw terminals, or did I imagine it?
Dodgy purveyors of cheap Chinese junk will sell 8P8C jacks with screw terminals on the back, which even if used with cat7 cable, effectively degrades the performance of the cable closer to cat3 (10mbit capable). https://www.dslreports.com/forum/r31087535-Installing-Cat-5-wall-plate
Unfortunately, a failed punchdown will leave you with a cable that has approximately the same performance as shouting across the parking lot. After much faffing about last night I discovered that my problem was due to one of the wires not having it's insulation cut properly when I punched it down. FINDING that problem required going up and down stairs more times that I care to contemplate. This is more what I was thinking, though I thought i had seen one that actually went into a keystone port.
