OK I basically wanted your opinions guys....:)

I quite fancy an LCD screen for winamp and to view my temperatures but have no spare drive bays to mount it in

Anyone got any suggestions on what I could do with a display outside of the case that'd look cool?

I was thinking maybe of getting a aluminium small project box so that I can sit it next to the screen but not sure...................?

Yes that would look ok, Ive seen pics of this being done, if it is in a alu project box it would look sweet, have a look through some of the lcd threads on here , in the cool case section

Best box I've found so far found is this boy from maplins..................

..............I need to get some tools to make the hole for the screen so I think I'll get some high grade sandpaper as well to get a mirror finish. :D:D

    L - 133mm (51/4in.)
    W - 70mm (23/4in.)
    H - 38mm (11/2in.)

..........with the pcb dimensions being 37mm x 116mm for a 2x20 screen so it should fit nicely in the front. I'm a little tempted to actually get the 4x20 display and to stand the box up simply for the larger screen size but I recon it might look a bit naff?!?! I'll probably order the box first and see...............

If anyone has one of these displays plz can you give me you opinions on the best way to hold the thing in place..............I dont really want screw holes on the outside other than the ones holding the box lid on. If I cut the hole a little small would I be able to use that to keep it in place? I saw in Tigermains review a raised kind of bit that might make this possible but would like to check first.
Never seen one so some guidance would be cool.......................:):)
    Cheers

Try the fitting kits that CCM have bcos they should look quite nice , if not you could epoxy the lcd to the inside of the box ?

Or use a couple of black push pins. They shouldn't look too out of place.
