Networks Dns Change

    hi just wondering if anyone out there know how to change the dns on everymachine in a network by a Batch file or similar

    Been told it can be done any help would be great

    depends.. are you using DHCP or static addressing.. if your using DHCP, then the server will automatically pass out the ip's.. as far as if their done statically you could create a .reg file with your info in it and just execute that on each system.. here is the registry key where they are stored.. the value is "nameserver" and they are seperated by commas with no space..

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\VxD\MSTCP

    Using static ip addresses i have been told that you can change the dns of evey computer using 1 batch file usnig a loop and the net view command somehow any ideas would be great

    Plus they are XP workstations

    and 2000 server

    I have no clue about XP or 2000, I cant look in my XP box for ya either cos my new CPU fan still hasnt got here.. :(

    try searching through regedit for 'nameserver'

    if you find the key its as simple as making the .reg file and double clickin it on each pc..

    Yeah tried that but the name server address is under a unique Hardware address and changes on every machine


    i know its possible just a matter of trying to find out how
