Alright... since I'm at a stand still on my other project, I decided to take my down time and turn it into sketching out my plans for the next project. The missus has asked me to make a DVR. So, a Mini-ITX DVR it is... Ebay! Just type in the search criteria "clock movements" and you will see a bunch of results. If you have a local clock repair shop, they might be able to help you as well. I'm going to a watch repair shop to get some smaller bits to use as decorations.
Yes, both of the movements will work and the star chart will rotate. If you look at materials pictures you can see that I've already cheated and tested the movements after I replaced the springs with little motors. I still need to fabricate a chain or a rubber band to move the star chart.

I am in the firm belief that your age is determined by your desire and aptitude to learn. The moment and time you stop wanting to learn new things is when you start getting old. But this project is getting me to learn how to use Google's SketchUp. I've convinced a friend of mine to give me a tutorial this Wednesday. BTW: Hablo espanol. Caspico italiano un picolo. Moi, je parle Francais un peu. Mein Deutch ist nicht schlecht. Ik spreek ook Nederlands. And there's English, of course. Google SketchUp is a breeze once you get the logic of it. I wish it could do bezels and chamfers more easily though...
Out of curiosity, when I'm ready to actually start this project do I make another thread in Project Work Logs or does this thread get moved over?
THIS PLAN ISN'T DEAD! I've redesigned the plans to have the PSU on the bottom and I'm contemplating getting a motherboard that has decent on-board sound (optical maybe) and video capabilities (HDMI). More design drawings will be posted after next weekend.
Once you have posted some pics of work in progress, you just PM one of the mods and we'll move this thread to Project Logs.
Materials are arriving... just waiting for the photographer to take the pictures of my current project and then I can call it done. This casemod will be made.
