    Hi People

I've got a bit of a problem with an old Maxtor HD

I've been given an old ide drive to try and recover it's contents. If i connect it to an old XP box it seems to knock out all other drives. None are recognised in bios including the DVD ROM.. Needless to say, the PC won't boot.

    Any suggestions please

Are the other drives IDE also? If so, set all drives to CS or cable select on the jumper settings.

If the other drives are SATA, then see if the BIOS is selecting the new drive as active first boot device.... in fact, check that anyway, whichever option applies.
