Usually in these cases, I find its not the blade, but the car. Try this:
    1) Take the problem blade off your vehicle.
    2) Sell your car
    3) Buy a new car
    4) Replace existing wiper blade with problem blade
    5) See if problem re-occurs.

Try a mixture of vinegar and water and wash your windscreen with it.

Clean it with methelated spirits. It will cut through anything, it takes elbow grease and don't worry if it looks smeared, you just buff it up afterwards.

Also, toothpaste on a moist sponge works wonders (no I am not being silly, you should try it, I read it in Honest John's telegraph column, it really does work). But i preffer the meths option for the glass. The toothpaste works well on the blades and the screen though :)

    humour (AMUSEMENT) noun [hyoo-mer]
the ability to be amused by things, the way in which people see that some things are amusing or the quality of being amusing:
He's got a great sense of humour (= he is very able to see things as amusing).

how can one know someones sense of humor when you do not know them?

my head is so fried from drinking to much coffee whilst trying to sort out blackberry connect software onto a o2 XDA orbit and making it talk to the companys BEZ (blackberry enterprise server)

Lift the wiper and slide off the blade. Inspect for any nicks, cracks, or rips in the material that would cause an uneven contact with the windshield. You should always replace both wipers when replacing one.

And clean it with meths and tooth paste (or just meths) in all likeliness there is a waxy residude (or sap) all over the screen. This is what usually does it to me, but if you've been behind a knackered diesel powered unit then there is possibly some oil on there too.

Go to the dealer and let them align the wiper. If the angle of the rubber hitting the windscreen isn't good, you can get streaks and smears.
They normally have a tool to measure that angle. Changing the angle is just a matter of bending the arm a little bit ;)

If that didn't help, it's probably the window that is greasy. Use fairy liquid to clean it and afterwards use regular window cleaner to take away the leftovers from FL.
Don't use toothpaste, it will scratch the window (microscopic scratches).

If the blade is new, and the glass is free of polish or other contaminants then it's possibe the arm is bent, or the wiper isn't fitted correctly.
