I've got a quick question. At the moment I'm using one mobile for the business and one mobile for personal use, which is getting to be a pain as I'm having to charge and carry 2 mobiles around. Apart from making me look like an idiot when I'm on a call on one when the other rings it's as irrating as hell having to carry them both with me.

I've seen various dual sim mobiles on the bay et al, and was wondering if anyone had one or had used one and if they were worth getting.

I had one a few years ago (cheap Chinese thing) but I didn't like it. Even though it took two sims both weren't activated at same time. If you wished to switch numbers you had to turn phone off and back on.

This may not may not be a good idea but could you leave one at home and put call forwarding on to the other phone?

Can you see who is calling you with call forwarding?

I carry 2 mobiles, one personal (iPhone 4), one work (Nokia Metal thing). The work one is small and lasts about a week on a charge so isn't much hassle. But I agree it makes you look like a prat with 2 phones.

You can get them. Look for the Nokia 2200c3. The states sell loads of them.

They are available, but they are mostly cheap models from small brandless Chinese firms and are, in a word, crap.

I'd just stick with the extra pocket weight of the two phones, or call forward (which semi-destroys the purpose of having two phones anyway...!).

If I had to carry around two phones, I'd make sure EVERYBODY knew about it.

Why not do a google voice set up to where both lines forward to your 1 phone?

We were having this discussion in work the other day. One guy has three work phones in addition to his own - all actually necessary believe it or not..

Can you just ditch your personal phone and just tell all of your mates you got a new number (that is, your business phone)? I did this last year, and having one phone, well, it's just great.

The other plus is I'm saving £25/month or so having just turned my personal phone in to a PAYG once the contract ended.

no the personal phone is used for family in case of emergency's (my gf has some health issues that require that I be contactable pretty much instantly)

looks like I'll be sticking to 2 mobiles I'll just have to keep my out out for the smallest mobiles possible.

But if your gf had your business number instead of your personal number, is there any reason you can't be contacted pretty much instantly on that phone? :eyebrow:

I find myself in a similar position, personal iphone4s, work Blackberry, and work Nokia.

I find that I use the iPhone for a hell of a lot more than just a phone.
I need the BB for email when I'm away from my desk, and the Nokia with 6 days battery life for making sure I get calls esp when I'm on call.

The ideal solution would be a dual sim iPhone, alas no such thing.
