I really need help with something, Unfortunatly it is not computer based, but please dont remove.

Basically, being a student, I cant afford much (all together now...sob, sob!!!!) and that includes a DVD player :(

So when a mate offered to give me his because it was faulty I jumped to the chance thinking I might be able to fix it....yeah right.

Its a modern DVD player but he brought it from someone else and the guarentee does not pass on. I can ensure you that it is not pinched, Im not in to that.

Basically its a JVC THA5R, that problem is that when you turn it to the DVD source it just says wait on the LCD screen of the DVD player, nothing happens. It works on all other sources such as Radio and AUX but just stays on "wait" when in DVD player mode. All is has on the screen is, wait (as mentioned), L & R. and Linear PCM. That it, the CD dont spin or anything.

Please if anyone knows or can help, please please do

    Thanks guys and gals

    Rusty

check to make sure that none of the mechanical (moving) parts inside are jammed. If the laser can't get to where it is supposed to, it wont be "ready". I had a problem like that with a cd changer I had.

Yep, checked for mechanical block, but everything seems free. Worse nightmare if the laser unit has gone, I certainly cant afford a new on :(
