First off, I hate eBay with a burning passion, but none the less, for pocket money I have to use it, although I do often search for other places to reach an instant market of similar size.

Anyway, for some reason ALL of my customers last month were from the same city as me, and my first sale this month, it's as if only people local to me can find my listings. Now I am not aware of any tickbox that restricts where or to whom your item is shown, so does anyone know what is going on here?

I havn't advertised in my area so it's not a case of them being the only people to know...

    Thanks

I assume you haven't accidentally or purposely used the "collection only" option?

Pretty sure there's no region limiting, I've never yet bought anything local.

Even if you mark down "Collection Only", you'll still get placed in search results round the country.

It could be coincidence Canon. Possibly get someone from the same country to search for the item and see if they can find it in eBay search results? If so, all is fine!

If it is a collection only type item often search results will be refined or sorted according to distance from the buyers location, so although people will be able to find your items if they look they may be ignored by people who live an inconvenient distance away.

Yeah I thought maybe I had done that too but most if not all products I list with eBay include postage so I mark them as 'free' P&P.

I know I often purchase items that are from sellers that are in my general area and have the item, over others that are further away as it can mean slightly quicker delivery when posted via royal mail.

[edit] just to add, one seller I purchased from quite a while ago actually came round and dropped the item off rather than posting as well which was nice [/edit]
