i left my computer running in the other room and came back like an hour later and there was a blue screen with some messages with dumping physical memory listed at the bottom and i guess it had dumped the memory

i thought i had seen that screen before but didnt know really anything

it said to restart my computer so since there was no restart option, i turned it off and back on

when it got to the boot screen, there was an error message that read

    error loading operating system

    and then nothing else

please help me figure out what happened and what to do

Definately the Blue Screen Of Death, something has gone horribly awry with your ram or hdd. Usually it will start as a page fault (a simple memory error followed usually by a complete system lockup) and then progressed into a full-scale memory dump. Not good. It can purge the main memory or the virtual memory on the HDD, although it looks like it purged a rather vital part of your OS. Best of luck to you.
