    Silly goose, thermite isn't an explosive, its an incendiary (unless you mix it with blackpowder) :D

    thermite would burn THROUGH the HDD, not leave a burn mark on top of it

    Dude did you like out loads of fireworks next to it? or somthing or did you open it then shufed fireworkes in there lol cool id loave to do that!

    I believe it is a combination fo 5 parts Fe2O3 (rust) and 3 parts aluminum. You need to use a blowtorch and magnesium ribbon to light it.

    Damned acrobat reader needs Windows 2000 SP2 and I seem to have an older version, so I can't consult my eBook.

    Correct.

    There is, AFAIK, nothing illegal about it... the alu must be powdered, as must the rust, then you mix them together and light with magnesium ribbon.

    Its not the substance that's illegal, but things you may do with it are =) (like burning through soemones car engine or whatever)

    Thermite would probably burn through the entire engine and make a hole in the street.

    I wonder if it's illegal to write something in thermite on the street and light it :hehe:
