I bought a 3.5" external enclusure from ebay and got it today.

the box says it only takes a max of a 160GB frive but i can't see why it would have a limit as all it does is convert USB to IDE, plus i've seen 200GB external drives.

any one know what could cause this 160 limit or is it wrong?

It was probably the biggest drive when they sent out the marketing material. If they have cracked the 137GB limit with it then I don't see any other problems, you should be able to install pretty much any IDE drive you feel like.

Try it in the external drive first and see if it works ok.
