I decided to paint the faceplates of all my drives today. I got everything ready. I go outside and spray everything. I go inside and take a nap. I wake up and its raining. It was beautiful outside before I went to sleep.

I took the plates inside, dried them off and looked at them.

They have a horrible texture and rain spots everywhere.

Now I have to sand, reprime then repaint.

    BUT WAIT!!!!

I noticed some laquer thinner laying around. I poured some in a cup and took one of the faceplates and dipped it in there, the paint melted off in a nice sheet. I took the plate out and went to dry it off. Well the plastic melted onto my skin.

I wasn't thinking at the time. The laquer thinner started melting the plastic.

    I can't win!!!

So now i will spend the weekend sanding, priming, sanding, painting, sanding, clear coating.

when you repaint them, do it with vinyl dye. it's the best ever for plastic. ask linear about it for more details and it's merits.
