Good luck SpaceX! http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/science_and_environment/10209704.stm http://www.spaceflightnow.com/falcon9/001/status.html http://spaceflightnow.com/falcon9/001/100602gallery/ I so want this to succeed - If they make orbit, it'll be awesome.
Webcam coverage is a little patchy, but it's exciting nonetheless. I hope they get it done, the privatisation of space-flight is pretty crucial to the next waves of expansion - once NASA can spend less on boshing people up and down to the white elephant ISS they can concentrate more on Mars + beyond.
Not knowing much about spacecraft/flight, can I ask what the significance of this is? Am I right in thinking it's the first privately-developed space rocket to be launched? Edit: just started watching the webcam and chatting, this is pretty cool. Launch at 6pm GMT apparently. Edit2: Never mind, they've delayed. I can only watch a webcam for so long...
FAIL. Watching the Webcast as its WAAAY better than that other guy that doesn't know how to mute his mic and continues typing when he isnt saying anything. Fingers crossed they will try again.
Congrats to SpaceX. Sadly, I missed the launch because I was on a plane at the time. I'm going to have to catch the replays!
Pretty impressive stuff, gotta love rockets. [edit]Swapped the video with buffering for the one pimonserry found, ta![/edit]
2nd flight, And 1st of an operational Dragon capsual is on for today, after a successful static firing earlier this week http://www.spaceflightnow.com/falcon9/002/status.html http://www.spacex.com/press.php?page=20101206 Looks like they've solved the issue with a cracked engine bell on the second stage - by cutting the offending piece off! 2 hours to go before launch.
We have the NASA TV HD channel up, and we're patiently awaiting launch. Looks like the next attempt is 9:42 am CST.
