    Hi guys,

Recently bought a brand new 1850RPM Gentle typhoon. All seemed well however when I connected it to a fan controller I noticed that the max RPM is only around 1750 ish.... is the fan faulty? I have two other Gentle typhoons and they spin at the rated 1850......

Is this an acceptable tolerance? Just thought I would check before I get on the phone :D

It's probably the fan controller, not all of them deliver 12V. If it's Sunbeam controller then you might get 10-11V.

I had the same fan with same RPM and it was spinning around 1700rpms so I do not think that it is faulty...

Maybe your motherboard or FAN Contoller is showing wrong numbers, but do not worry it is just 100rpms, it does not affect that much to cooling and it is quieter...

Even though the fan controller is running the other two fans at 1850 RPM?

On the same channels? My Sunbeam varied from channel to channel.

Could be the fan then. This review suggests that the controller has 96% accuracy with a 30W load. However a few GTs won't have anything like that load.

Can you plug the fan into a mobo header and see what reading you get with that.

Not really..... its on a massive extension cable behind the motherboard tray.... its gonna be a pain to connect to a mother board header. I was advised that this an acceptable tolerance?
