Mine arrived yesterday and the fan isn't extremely loud but it is fairly loud and doesn't sound like its running very smoothly, this is a pretty expensive PSU so I just wondered if this is normal before I send it back?

Its not too annoying but if its not right then its going back!

I've got a Real Power 620W which is older tech and it's pretty quiet.

are you running it with the fan facing up or down?

Let it run for a while, it may just settle down; my bfg es800 was pretty loud until i just let it run for a while. the fan is a lot smoother and it's a lot quieter.

The fan is facing down, i've had it running for a while now and its still doing the same noise. I can't hear it over my other fans as they are loud and ready to be replaced but if I put my ear up to the PSU it kinda sounds like there is something hanging in the fan blades from inside the PSU (there isn't AFAIK.. checked with a flash light).

The replacement arrived after 9 days which is pretty poor but anyway, its no different to the last one. It's annoying how an expensive PSU has a clunky sounds fan. I would send it back but I can see that leaving me without a PSU for weeks. It really does sound like there is a cable or something inside the unit thats hanging down into the fan blades (which there isn't as far as I can see).

Grr I hate sending stuff back to Scan.. the courier picked the last one up, the next day the RMA status said it has been tested and a replacement was going to be issues. Over a week later I emailed them asking where my replacement was and they must have forgot as I had an invoice placed within an hour of me sending the email. I don't want to go another 9 days without my main rig :(

Two noisy PSUs in a row? must be a bad batch or something. I hope they will issue a refund, then I can choose something else.

Heh, I've just had two bad PSUs in a row from scan too, a Be Quiet Dark Power Pro 650w. They weren't noisy, they just wouldn't work :(
