I think your the owner of 'Mr Fraggle' steam account, if so, change your password. Someone's got in to your account and is sending out messages to try and steal others steam accounts. Can't seem to send you a direct message on here due to profile limitations.
Seems Fizzban might have been affected too as comrade woody has gotten strange requests from Kronos and Fizzban. People are being asked to sign into websites using there steam login, dont do it obviously.
I am usually pretty careful but the request came via a 'friend' on Steam, idiot that I am. AV Forums was recently hacked and scammers were trying to sell Amazon vouchers with no vouchers for sale of course.
Thanks for the heads up. I trusted the message as it came from someone trustworthy..gah what a fool. Thankfully I have 2FA and I just changed my password.
Thanks for the heads up, It was 08:10 this morning when Fizzban sent me a message for a CSGO, and without thinking, tried too. I've changed my password on Steam, and thankfully have Steam Guard on my phone so hopefully nothing untoward happens. Strangely enough, Fizz isn't in my friends list any more. Sam
I didn't do it. The person who sent me the message originally has vanished from my f-list as well. The message was asking you to go vote on their csgo team. I'd normally ignore something like that generally, but assumed as the request came from a friend that it was safe. Very sneaky.
I got the same message I clicked the link and when it asked me to sign in via steam I noped out. Did a whois lookup and the domain had been registered recently.
I thought everybody remotely tech savvy knew not to trust anything just because it 'came from someone I know'! In that instance just ask a question or something, and probably quickly become obvious it's not your friend. Hopefully people managed to change passwords before anything happened
i Also got one from Fizzban this morning, but didnt log in with my steam account, Fizzban disappeared of my friends list shortly thereafter
FFS. I sent out a message to my whole f-list today explaining the issue and it seemed way too small of a list. So many people the damn hacker just deleted/blocked. This is my friend code for any that want to re-add: 26796673
@Kronos I temporarily blocked you Glenn until I knew things were safe and just removed it (been out all day) but you aren't on my friends list anymore and I seem to be blocked from your end also.
I almost got caught out the other day, which surprised me as I thought I was infallible (don't we all). I got an email from 'Royal Mail' saying that I needed to pay to release a parcel. The email itself was a bit odd, but I had been ordering from overseas and so wasn't surprised to see an import tax request. I was reading the email on my phone, so couldn't mouse over the sender's email address to see if it was just another 'randomperson91@yahoo.com'. Impatience got the better of me and I clicked on the link, only to be sent to a webpage that said 'This Account Has Been Suspended'. Thank God. Anyways, my points are: Even someone tech savvy can have a momentary lapse. Don't ever ignore your gut instinct if something is even remotely 'off'.
It was odd to hear from Glenn as I've been away from the forum for a long time and it's been almost as long since we last spoke, but what really gave it away was the hacker calling me "bro" and later "bruh" or "brah". The thought of Kronos saying that was quite amusing though.
