This is the case I'am going to be working with, I'm kinda out of ideas on how to mod the bezel so any creative input is nice. Crappy camera. This will be my top window as soon as I receive my molding from FrozenCPU So far I've modded the motherboard tray, I cut out the two big rectangular holes. there is another one hiding behind the floppy bay. A shot from the otherside, I plan on windowing these holes with a flourescent green plexiglass. I have plans for a windows 120mm big boy fan up front. And one of my ugly mug.
So far the list of things to do read. 1. Figure out what to do with the bezel 2. Tint my plexi (if i can find flourescent tint) 3. Install windows on the backside of the case, motherboard tray, and top of the case. 4. Sand the case down 5. Figure out what color scheme I wanna work with and apply it. 6. Brainstorm a design for both windows on the doors. if you know/see any potential in the bezel feel free to give me some ideas cause im thinking about scrapping it and making my own plexi front, but i would love to keep the bezel.
hope it turns out as good as i think it will, I still have to make a cut on the bottom tray for my new radiator. Here is a pic of the cut im going to make. And here is one of my current case.
small update: finished cutting/filing down the top window sanding off the paint by hand sux, but when you dont have many tools you do what you gotta do. Im looking for a place to buy yellowish green uv plexi if anyone knows where to get it. that would be a big help. currently out of cutting discs so project is going to be slow for a while
Decided to bondo over certain areas to make the tray flush, and to cover up some mistakes i made with the dremel. Going to WalMart tonight to get all my supplies. I also found out my uncle has a sandblaster I can use, so no more sanding by hand. And here's a pic. Pics when I return
Finished another window tonight, didnt get to stop by walmart so i made very good use of my time. Also got (more like stole) the idea from so many more mods before me. Im going to mold a duct intake on the front bezel.
BE CAREFUL WITH THE SANDBLASTER!!!! I used one on an aluminum case one time and it warped the case from heat and pressure.
Thanks, I might have to go with regular old clear plexi see'ing as I cant find UV plexi sold in sheets, which is very disappointing. Either way it'll look nice.
I agree about modding free cases, it's the best thing. I especialy like modding cases from the retail PCs (I have done an Acer and I have a huge a$$ Compaq server that I want to do next).
Thanks alot, mod will probably slow down around these few weeks cause its about to be Thanksgiving. I should be ordering the window molding pretty soon, I already have regular plexi and have begun to shape the windows. Having a little problem figuring out what i want to do with the side windows tho
