I've just ordered the parts for my first ever self build PC, and browsing some of the very informative posts in this forum, I can see that there are lots of little traps for the unwary when putting a PC together. While I wait for the parts to arrive, I just thought I'd ask the more experienced builders here: "What do you wish you'd known before you built your first PC?". Have you ever zapped a part with static, not pushed a cooler on properly, spread thermal paste all over the motherboard, etc, etc? The parts I've ordered (from Scan's Today only offer) are: Intel Core i5 2500K Unlocked Combo Coolermaster CM 690 II Lite, Black, Mid Tower Case w/o PSU 650W Coolermaster RS650-ACAAE3-UK GX, 80 PLUS, 85% Eff', SLI/CrossFire, , EPS 12V, 120mm Fan Intel Core i5 2500K Unlocked, 1155, Sdy Bridge, QuadCore, 3.3GHz, GPU 850Mhz, 6MB Cache, 95W, Retail MSI P67A-G45 (B3), Intel P67, S 1155, PCI-E 2.0 (x16), DDR3 2133, Xfire, SATA 6Gb/s, SATA RAID, ATX 1TB Samsung HD103SJ Spinpoint F3, SATA 3Gb/s, 7200rpm, 32MB Cache, 8.9ms, NCQ 8GB (2x4GB) Corsair Vengeance DDR3 PC3-12800 (1600), Non-ECC Unbuffered, CAS 9-9-9-24, XMP, 1.50V Pioneer DVR-S19LBK 24x DVD±R, 12x DVD±DL, DVD+RW x8/-RW x6, RAM x12, SATA, Black, Retail Labelflash plus XFX HD 5770 AMD / ATI Graphics Card with IP-5X fan, Eyefinity, Single Slot - 1GB Hoping this is everything I need (and that the Intel stock cooler isn't as scary to push on as people say...) Looks good. I've been trying to find reviews of that graphics card as well... The scan's today only packages are deals, you've gout yourself some nice kit. Watch youtube videos for build help if you think you'll need it?!?!
