Hi guys, sorry to bother you but i just thought i'd lay down my ideas for watercooling my SFF Shuttle SX48P2 deluxe. Im an absolute watercool n00b and im not sure if you're able to give any ideas - but i thought id ask anyway // dont wanna get this wrong :/

Now my shuttle can support three drives; im running a 1TB HDD and a velociraptor which can sit in both top bays - altho the raptor is underneath the optial drive atm. This gives me one free 3.5" drive bay either at the top of the system or underneath the optical drive. most of the room in my rig is taken up with the GTX280 XXX which is on the right hand side.
    Top of shuttle
    Right side of shuttle
    Left side of shuttle
    Top 3.5" bay cradle removed

GPU: Koolance VID-428 (nickel-plated solid copper)

looks good due to the 2-way barbs (GPU slots on right hand side of shuttle) - mebe use Tygon tubing aswell as this sounds good // i dunno.

CPU: Koolance CPU-340 fits Shuttles non-standard mounting holes if rotated 90'

NB: best to keep this out of the loop and so i was thinking a Thermaltake Extreme CL-C0034
    http://i41.tinypic.com/2442yx0.jpg
.. altho the shuttle ICE cooler cooles SB and NB with one pipe so i may need to leave this stock???

Res: Ok, either the rad or the res had to be external. External res could be the alphacool Cape Coolplex 10 // even two of these might be mountable on the back of the shuttle? - if necesesary i COULD remove my 5.25" drive but reli want this if i can - if i did use a 5.25" res, there is the XSPC drive bay res/... or mebe even the Swiftech MCRES-Micro Reservoir (has a maximum capasity of 4.5 fl oz, 133 cc)

However, ive just found a 3.5" drivebay and as it will be above the CPU etc, there still should be no problem, however - at this size, what would it compare to t-lines with fillports?:
    3.5" Black res
    Danger Den fillports/res

Pump: Swiftech MCP350 12VDC Pump is said to work well with the MCRES-Micro Reservoir as is the MCP655, although im not sure if this will fit in my rig?

There is always the option of using a Swiftech H2O-120 Compact or H2O-220 Compact Water cooling kit... seems nice and easy and teh pumps are low profile aswell.

Rads: there might be enough space for a pair of 80mm rads along the left hand side of the shuttle case and mebe room for a pump either under the psu, above the low profile block, mounted to the side of the psu or in the drive bay if its free but im not sure if it would be better to put the rad on the outside (top/back?) for heat and size reasons. Bearing in mind i wouldnt really want to start cutting away into my case (back is fine) but i would be scared of screwing up and i dont know how easy/pricey it would be to replace these shuttle cases. Maybe i could fix a larger rad to the top of the case (eg.XSPCRX360), although some people have used custom shrouded 80mm rads, others have modified the dual 70mm rad from the coolermaster kits, or had a rad custom made for the rear slot at the back of the case but i wouldve thought that would be expensive and i dont know anyone. - MAIN QUESTION: rad/s inside or out?

Final option: something like this: (gotta watch out for galvanic corrosion tho)

So, basically as you can see i have lots of pieces of the puzzle and need someone smart to put them all together for me so i know what im doing.. i wouldnt mind, its just this rig was pretty pricey. Saying that - i dont mind paying a premium for easy to install/ high quality parts - i want the best

[Note] My shuttle has a 450W 80+certified power supply. Now these things are powerful, but i cant help wondering what with 2HDDs a 45nm Q9550, 4GB DDR3, optical drive, a GTX280 XXX ed, and a set of logitech z5500's hooked up as well as 3 external HDD's, i need to watch my power consumption.... whaddaya think?

    Thankyou...

    NathaN.

I'd use a fillport and t-line in such a small case. It's a really simple mod to drill/cut a small hole in the roof of the for the fillport and will look cleaner and require less tubing, which is essential in such a confined space.

On the subject of tubing, personally Tygon is way overpriced for what it is. XSPC and PrimoChill is just as good and available in a wider range of colours. ;)

If I were you i'd mount a 120 or 240mm rad externally, cutting another 2 small holes in the case to run tubes. Silly little aluminum 70/80mm rads really just wont cut it for a modern quad core CPU.

And lastly, if that PSU is actually powering all those components i'd seriously gobsmacked. :O

christ that is one small rig there...along with cyph3r i agree on going external with the rad, and here are some products that i have noticed whilst i have spent some time looking around for wc gear this weekend....

personally, the latter of the options would be favourable for me with your kind of rig, as it houses the pump, rad and res. all in one, so you just need 2 tubes going into your rig to cool it, although it does come at a price and aquacomupter use 1/4" tubing, so making it a low flow system which may affect your chosen blocks. just some ideas
