To improve the spelling and grammar-use of the forum-visitors, perhaps a yearly Forum Award for Best Language? Not necessarily a prize or something, but just a coloured title underneath the username?

No, seriously I don't. I'm just fed up with some people not even trying to use proper grammar or spelling. I also don't want the "commission" to bias people who's mothertongue isn't English, so in that case I don't even come close to winning this kind of award.

So, really, I don't have any interest in winning this award, I just want to give the forum-users a push in the right direction to use proper language :D

I guess that's what the reputation thing is about, and usually in extreme cases we email people to ask them to write in proper english. There are a lot of people around here as you will no doubt notice type in good written english, so i think giving an award would be terribly hard, and maybe a little elitist (sp?). :)

(And you outta know me better - ;) = joke!)

    You've actually done that?

I think we should have an annual "Forum User Awards". I know Lorquis will win the "Sir Spams-a-lot" award ;) .

Theres a difference between people who aren't good at spelling or grammar and people who write things such as:

    u - you
    r - are
    ne - any

and there are people who never use capital letters or punctuation.

I'm not perfect but I do put some effort in when I post on a forum.

I haven't been here for very long but in most other forums i use 'sms speak', its usually to save time, but if it bothers people i can type 'properly' my spelling on the other hand is genuinely crap

I imagen my speach would go something a little like this...

*sniff* "I'm so honoured to recieve this award, I'd like to thank *sniff* Logitech, for the keyboard that allowed me to type the messages of joy... NTL for the broadband for the spammage.. and t3h pr0n0rz... and someother people no one likes... you know... *whispers* microsoft"...

or I'd just spam more to acknowledge my role....

    VIVÉ LA SPAM!

They simply don't qualify for an award :D

Its like saying "What about the non-peaceful people" when discussing who to give the Nobel Peace Prize to. Sometimes people's logic baffles me so much.....

I guess what he meant is people with genuine (pronounced jen-you-in BTW) learning difficulties such as dyslexia.

They may exist, but 99% aren't. It's often a dorkish attempt to appear joe cool - "I'm so laid-back I don't even write proper words". An insult to your readers, really, especially if you're after help and can't be arsed to put your problem clearly.

Remember, folks, it takes guts to use an apostrophe... :hip:
