I have had problems with this PC for a long time now and they gradually seem to get worse and more of them. I posted this a while back:

"For about the last 6 months my computer seems to be quite tempramental. When i move it between uni and home and first boot it up it likes to repeatedly restart leaving a few seconds between each time it does it. This usually lasts for about 20 minutes then it runs perfectly (besides the odd crashes). However, the most recent time I brought it up to uni, about 3 weeks ago it didn't want to stop doing the restarting but only when my network cable is plugged in (I can get it running offline but as soon as I plug the cable in it crashes). I formated it with a fresh install of windows and the problem is still there indicating it must be a hardware problem.

Yet I have no idea where to start to look at what component/s need replacing. It could even be a loose fitting I guess.

Now that I've moved my PC back home and is running on wireless (meaning I don't plug in a network cable) it stopped doing the frequent crashing. However, now it completely randomly freezes (without restarting) and still cannot play videos properly. It typically freezes when I'm listening to music or playing some games (but not all). But it also freezes when doing less demanding activities such as browsing the internet.

I get the following error messages in event viewer:

Event ID 51 - An error was detected on device \Device\Harddisk0\D during a paging operation.
Event ID 9 - The device, \Device\Scsi\viamraid1, did not respond within the timeout period.
Event ID 2504 - The server could not bind to the transport \Device\NetBT_Tcpip_{424865F0-6009-4C8C-A184-EFFF05EF156F}.

I also have this warning but not sure if it's relevant:

Event ID 1006 - Your computer was unable to automatically configure the IP parameters for the Network Card with the network address 001150F58D57. The following error occurred during configuration: The DHCP client has obtained an IP address that is already in use on the network. The local interface will be disabled until the DHCP client can obtain a new address.

    System specification:

    AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3800+
    NVIDIA GeForce 7900 GT/GTO 512mb (driver 175.16)
Microsoft Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2 (5.1.2600)
    Maxtor 6 V200E0 SCSI Disk Device 200gb (partioned 170:30)
    WDC WD25 00BB-55RDA0 USB Device 250gb
    2gb RAM
    ASUS AV8-VM mobo

Any help would be ideal. I would just like to replace the offending component.

try disabling the network controller in your motherboard bios and seeing if that cures it. Obviously you'll not have internet but you can runs some games for a while to test. Also try disabling anything your not using in the bios, legacy fdd, serial controllers etc. I could be a device conflict.
