Unfortunately I think you're out the loop - ad agencies have to pander to a clients needs and clients want it as in your face as possible. I know the guys upstairs work on a pretty strict policy of what's accepted (you should see some of what comes through!) but unfortunately it's always a delicate balance.

The mini one is certainly clever, but it doesn't want to make me buy a mini at all. Plus it raped my CPU.

Lets play thread necromancer here right now.

Have to say the CnC3:Kanes Wrath full page ad isnt one of the better ones you've had. Really could have made better use of the space available down the sides instead of just changing the top banner. My fav is still the Crysis one.

The space is open to advertisers, ultimately it's their decision which parts of the site they choose to use.

wow, i really need to visit the front page more. i've never seen one of the fullpage ads before. i just came in here to read the whining about the C&C3 ad, not realizing that it was a regular thing.

I think I just visited it for the first time, and I'll stay right here, thank you. Ads may keep the lights on, but they're still evil!

Agree. That's a very bad advert.

Actually, I do a lot of the time.

    Volunteer firefighter / EMT
Volunteer board member with the railway museum
Volunteer delegate in the County political convention

Yeah, I have a job (or two), but that doesn't mean I don't work for free on the things I care about.

    Touchie (in-joke for the office).

    ;)

And good on you too for the community service. But it's not like we ever have the time to do anything else, even if we wanted to do volunteer work ;)

    True.

I'll be the first to not only admit, but declare that you guys do an awesome job. I understand the reality of ad-funded content, but that doesn't mean I like it.
