Hi there, I have only one small question:

Is there any overclocking problems with FX-55 CPU?

I am asking coz it seems really strange to me that everybody with an evaporator cooling or something like that goes to oc´ing an Intel CPU.

    A 4 Ghz FX-55 should be much more powerfull than a P4 at 4,5- 5,0 Ghz, am I right?

So is there any problems for xtreme overclocking of AMD CPUs with suitable cooling? Like stability, overheating etc.... except money

I am thinking about a vapochilled FX processor for my new project, so I would like to know if it is only wasting money....?

Dont think there are any problems. Know of a guy on another forum who had a Vapo on his FX-55 at just under 3.5ghz, which easily competed with 5ghz+ Pentium4s, especially in gaming :naughty:

Although, he had to have it up to 1.75v, and it might have died last week. But that may be completely unrelated...

Aircooled Bigz and I have trouble over 225Fsb with 4000+ and FX55, dunno what phase change would do though - youd need a good board and some fast ram.

Yeah fast RAM is a must; the guy was running OCZ VX at over 280fsb at 2-2-2-5-1T. He was getting ~34,000 on 3DMark2001 with a stock X800XT :eeek:

Oh and he was using K8N Neo2 Plat :thumb:

it was priming at 253x10 earlier, any higher was memory related. ;)

250x11 isn't stable at the moment, though - I need to work on that one a bit.

I was dropping 34s superpi at 250x10 with a 'normal' OS with quite a few background processes running. It does 33s at 2600MHz, so I have a feeling that 31s or 30s could be a possibility if I can get 250x11 stable at 3.0-2-2

Have you dropped the multiplier down to 11x?

I have a feeling that this board will do over 300HTT with async memory.

I am considering about MicroStar K8N Diamond SLI ?

Or will by a NF4 DFI better?

I got an FX55 and DFI I would also recomend a Prometiea mach2 instead of a vapochill as the vapochill doesnt kool as well as a mach2 my system runs well at 292 x 11 my chip craps out at about 3.3 not a huge overclocker but would whoop a 4gig p4 anyday well I think it would loool my specs are

FX55 week 44 not a good overclocking week??
    DFI NF4 Ultra-D
    2 x 512 GSkill 4400LE
    X850XT PE

    I get 33k someat in 3dmark 01 and 14k in 03

As Tolsk posted, WR is around 3,8 so 3,3 isn´t so bad :baby:

And yes, I will probably use regassed the Prometeia from extremeprometeia.com, I used "vapochiled" coz I couldnt remember the right verb for "Evaporate cooled" :hehe:

Never fiddled with dropping the multi or anything, im not really that versed on A64 ocing being an Intel man but i will have a go. Tbh, Corsair 3200XL Pro is great for LL 3200 speeds but crap at ocing (as demostrated when Wil and I did the ocing experiments at Christmas - 3200 capped at 240odd, but 4400 stuff did 280ish iirc).
It's just finding the time to play about atm

Seems to be the PCB's that limit some of the TCCD, especially those on the BrainPower. Sticks rated for low latency often use different PCB's to those rated for higher fsb/looser timings. This affects the clocks of the low latency modules. They might run slightly higher at tighter timings, but cant match the other modules at high fsb

That, and i recon corsair basically lob the stuff that wont do faster speeds into 3200LL stuff - they're all the same stuff at the end of the day just branded different.

i think your find that 4GHZ is the record for an fx-55

:grr: Please don't bump month-old threads just to correct info that is not only incidental but was correct at the time of posting. Thanks.
