i just copy all the pics into a folder so i dont use up so much band width and also makes a slide show easyer to show all my students ( TDK engineers )

as for sueing for useing the shower hoses LOL

actualy he wasnt the first to do that but he did it with style and grace where the first time i saw it wasnt all that great and neat (i did it for a military comp. about 7 years ago)

your work is outstanding and its hard to post project logs now cause of inferiority complexes when competing against stuff like your work andy2k bug wher you guys have time money skill space and ideas taht dwarf many ( i got the ideas just lacking time money and space here in japan :) )

keep up the great work . im still wondering how you are gonna make the Mobo look cool. and are you planning on using a cascade for a water block?

EDIT: If I hadn't been here so long, I woulda re-registered just to post in this thread!!!! :D

Hey there Phire, thanks for the comments! You did a great job with the original PSU sleeving - it was such a shame to have to cut it off but the mod kinda dictated it. :sigh:

There will be over 50 clear PET/fishtank-air-hose cables and 17 sections of stainless steel shower-hose cables in the case when I have finished with it - I wired up 20 on the weekend (took rather a long time :( ). As you would know, you can really make cabling a feature of a case. My goal is to make cables that look nothing like normal wiring - as futuristic and SciFi as possible. I had some other great ideas for cabling but I have had to save those for another project.

    Cheers :)

This mod is really contagious, I’ve been looking around and got myself a Lian Li PC7323A HDD bracket. Right now I’m planning and designing my own acrylic case with a lot of stuff of your ORAC3 in it. I can’t help it but when I see something I like I want it. It won’t be a direct copy but a lot of designs you used will be in it. Also I will be using a lot of Macroman and Daydreamingknight ideas, modified to my own needs and designs. Right know money is the main issue, so it will take a lot of time before it’s finished.
I really want to thank everybody for bringing your ideas out in the open. :thumb:

G-gnome, I hope you don’t mind me trying to build my own ORAC, using some (actually a lot modified to my own taste) of your ideas and mods.
How are you gonna attach your serial connector to the motherboard??

I guess you’re the Godfather of all ORACs   , correct me if I’m wrong. I really hope you will put a description of all the wiring in your ORAC, I don’t really get where all the LEDs come from and where they are for.

    Lets Mod :dremel:

Mwahahhaaa.....muahahhhaaaaaaa! The EQ Gnomes are comin'! Awwww ... Look at his lil' cute grumpy face ... :baby:

I am a recovering EQ addict as well (broke all my CDs up a couple of years ago :D ) Played about 2 years and it took over for a while there ... liked the gnomes - they tinker and build all sorts of neat stuff, that, and the project mapping the Human Genome, combined to make my handle.

    :naughty:

I've heard of this project on a german casemodding-site and I must confess this is one the best projects I've ever seen!
Personally, I don't like Plexi-Cases, but this one really convinced me ;)
And I've got a question: Where did you get these small boxes from that you used next to the PSU with all the cable-stuff in it? They really seem practical ;)

BTW: Congrats to your idea of using shower hoses :D...nice one

RS components (there is one in the UK) for my junction boxes (as mentioned in the Log) or K-Mart for my storage boxes? Not sure which ones you mean...?

Specialised Plastics and Wholesale in Newcastle (they ordered it in though - it's made in Asia somewhere - try a google search? ;) ) :)

60 Rogue, 52 Warrior and 50 Magician (and 50 Wood Elf Ranger) - Never got round to Wizzy.:D (I used to dress my Gnome Warrior up in silver plate and walk round Steamfont watching the shock as players tried to attack me thinking I was a guard.)

    Hey, me too!

Anyway, gettin' off topic here ...

    Err...
    - Not at all (hope you do a mind-blowing job on it :) )...
    - Wait and see ...
    - Maybe the Godgnome of all ORACs ...:D:lol:
    - Later updates will shed more light on the wiring. If you don't have any idea where all the LEDs come from etc it's probably because I am currently wiring a lot of them up and they aren't even been shown in the Proj Log yet :) You'll see more of these later.

    Cheers! :dremel:

On the topic of the serial connector for your VFD I noticed you'd connected lines to all 9 of the port's pins - you know it only uses pins 2&3 right? (and 5 for earth). Might make life a little simpler for you - soldering em straight to the board is easy when you only have to do two lines :)

Think you can ask them where in asia please? I've searched Google, and haven't had much luck yet!

    Hi Rob!

Hehe, I knew it only used a few lines but wasn't sure which ones so I did em all! :D It's already wired up and installed and working great but I'll remember that for the future! Thanks for the tip :) - I have another on the way so will wire that one like you suggested (err, I think it's USB though eheh). Cheers Rob! :)

As for the Mobo end - I'll use the plug as is - it'll make it easy to remove and all those wires make the cable pretty strong where it joins the plug.
