Now all the config has settle down I want to be able to host a games server to do some testing.

    Red Fraction
    T2
    OFP
    HL
    QIII

(Not all at the same time though!)

How many players can I limit on a 256/512 50:1 Contention Ratio?

I have an IP address because my modem is constantly conected to the Internet.

I've done this before over ISDN and worked on the bases of 14kb per player so give or take about 6. So I reckon about 8.

    Any thoughts?

I have run an 8 player server before on my Cable which is only 512k dload / 128K uload, at about 6 it starts to lag for every1 but with ur upload of 256k and a 50:1 connection ratio I reckon you could run a nice 8 player server, check out www.no-ip.com, allows you to assign a domain name to your IP address for free!! much easier to connect that way!

don't forget the machine that's running the server has to be up to the job too....you'll need at least 500MHz once you get past 10 players I'd say...20 players will prolly need 1Ghz....

This one is in my Dragon case.

    Its my second machine.

    I have a 1Ghz @ 1266Mhz in a Juno P6 with all the bells and whistles.
